In accordance with the State Council's institutional restructuring scheme of 2008, the responsibility of cosmetic hygiene supervision will be transferred from the Ministry of Health to the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA). Since September 1, 2008, SFDA will be responsible for the acceptance of the application for hygiene license of imported cosmetics, China-made special cosmetics and new ingredients of cosmetics.
